The Durham Convention and Visitors Bureau seeks a talented writer and content creator who can further our email, marketing automation and lead nurturing strategies. The ideal candidate has a strong background in writing and editing content and effectively distributing such content through a variety of channels. You will be responsible for creating content to raise brand awareness and monitoring metrics to identify best practices. You're a team player who can work cross-functionally to help further the organization's goals and long-term vision.

Job Responsibilities

  • Inspire people to visit Durham and join our communications channels through engaging digital content
    • Responsible for creating, editing, posting, updating and occasionally cleaning up outdated content
    • Develop effective communications to deliver the right message to the right person at the right time of the customer's journey
    • Assist in the planning and execution of DCVB's content strategy across channels, including print, email, social media, paid media and website
    • Demonstrate a finely tuned understanding of DCVB's brand, mission and audiences
  • Segment database and set up email workflows using HubSpot
  • Make data-based decisions, using A/B testing to optimize systems

 

Key Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience developing content for digital channels in a B2B or B2C environment
  • Creation of content for search engines, lead generation, customer interaction and engagement
  • Basic understanding of SEO best practices (keywords, cross-links and calls to action)
  • Experience using a marketing automation platform (HubSpot, Pardot, Act-On, etc)
  • Experience using a CMS / CRM platform
  • BA degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage significant internal projects; organized and detail oriented

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Durham's strengths and attractions
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS
  • Basic understanding of Google Analytics
