The Durham Convention & Visitors Bureau is Durham's marketing agency, helping draw nearly 10 million leisure visitors and business travelers to this vibrant, eclectic, off-the-chain destination last year. We're looking for an ambitious Senior Manager, Marketing Campaigns with the digital and marketing strategy chops to develop and manage awareness and engagement campaigns that will bring even more visitors to our door.

Primary Role Objective:

Plan, develop, execute and optimize B2C and B2B integrated marketing campaigns that create awareness of Durham and interest in visiting among potential consumers and meeting and convention planners.

  

DUTIES:

  • Use data and market insights to identify target audiences, craft compelling messages, and develop marketing strategies and tactical plans.
  • Work with external agencies and in-house staff to develop, execute, and optimize campaigns across digital and traditional advertising and email channels, in collaboration with content, web, social media, public relations and analytics teammates.
  • Leverage real-time email marketing results, web analytics reports, and SEM campaign analyses to continuously optimize performance of marketing programs, improve website usability, and increase conversion rates.
  • Brief and collaborate with internal designers and external contractors on development of materials.
  • Write and edit copy for campaign promotional materials and web landing pages, contributing to department's overall content strategy and development.
  • Ensure that the organization's brand and identity is adhered to in all campaign materials.
  • Deliver regular reports on campaign results and KPIs.
  • Develop lead generation and sales funnel nurture campaigns in collaboration with group sales team.
  • Collaborate with Visitor Services team to build and optimize a seamless customer experience.
  • Help develop campaign budgets; work within approved budget, monitoring and adjusting spend as needed.
  • Keep abreast of current trends in marketing and champion promising innovative practices.
  • Serve as a departmental knowledge leader on digital marketing and marketing automation; coach other staff on best practices.
  • Support special projects, including process and website improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Key skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external colleagues, vendors, agencies and stakeholders in the development and management of marketing campaigns and materials.
  • Demonstrated technical competency to manage automation systems (Hubspot or similar) to set up, run and monitor campaigns effectively.
  • Excellent copywriting skills.
  • Project management skills: ability to plan and oversee work process to meet deadlines for multiple projects and ensure ROI on marketing campaigns.
  • Able to distill market insights from research and develop campaign plans and strategy.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience planning and optimizing campaigns based on campaign metrics analysis.
  • Ability to develop strategies and messaging for targeted marketing success.
  • Education and Experience Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or similar field required.
  • 4-7 years' experience developing, managing, and optimizing digital advertising and email campaigns.
  • Significant experience using Google Adwords, Google Analytics, and Hubspot (or similar automation platform) to execute, track, and optimize campaigns.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Beginner to intermediate experience identifying and pursuing SEO opportunities.
  • Experience managing social media channels.
  • Print media buying experience.
  • Durham resident.
